Parsons Educational Foundation awards scholarships

The Parsons Educational Foundation hosted the 22nd annual scholarship banquet May 3, at the Parsons High School with approximately 200 in attendance.

Thirty-three graduating seniors received $26,150 in scholarships funded by the foundation. Many other scholarships were awarded at the ceremony by the Labette Community College, service clubs in Parsons and other groups that partner with the foundation.

The Parsons Educational Foundation was founded in 2003 as a nonprofit organization and has supported USD 503 students and teachers through scholarships and teacher mini-grants.

The foundation has an endowment of over $850,000 and has invested more than $400,000 into the district through scholarships, mini grants and other special projects.
