Procedure and Timeline for Grant Requests

Foundation grants are given in May each year following a call for proposals in January. We are now implementing a two-step process: First applicants will submit a one page synopsis for the grant they are proposing along with documentation of the organization's 501(c)(3) status and financial information. The Foundation must receive these by January 27, 2012. These will be carefully reviewed first by the Foundation's Grant-making Committee, and those showing promise of meeting the Foundation's mission and donor intent will be invited the last week in February to move to the second stage. Any further information requested will be due on or before March 2, 2012. Final decisions are made by the entire board in mid-April, with a granting reception early in May. Our goal is to support requests that will benefit the widest section of residents possible, creating a positive impact to the quality of life in this area. The Foundation, by law, may only give to (1) a charitable organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or (2) a political subdivision of the State of Kansas including municipalities, school districts and community colleges, provided support from the Parsons Area Community Foundation  does not supplant governmental spending. Organizations must show proof of their IRS non-profit determination before an application will be reviewed.

If your organization has a question as to whether it qualifies for funding under these guidelines, please contact Anne Allen, Executive Director. Any requests submitted outside the annual granting cycle will be referred to the Grant-making Committee for their recommendation as to whether immediate action by the board is in order.
